As of January 1, 2012, freshwater anglers will not be allowed to use lead fishing sinkers and lead jigs weighing less than one ounce. The ban is now prohibited in all inland waters of the Commonwealth. “Lead sinker” or “lead weight” is defined as any sinker or weight made from lead that weighs less than 1 ounce. A “lead jig” is defined as any lead-weighted hook weighing less than 1 ounce.

Yeah but that don't mean it won't come up again next year. Think about it. It's a win,win for the crooks in office. They get to do something "environmental" and "green" and at the same time collect revenue for all the tickets the tree cops are gonna be handing out after they ask fisherman,"Sir can you reel up your line so I can see that there is no lead on there." I remember when fishing was a relatively inexpensive pass time.....Great.

Excellent point Carp. Keep America Fishing is working hard to make sure that these illconceived bills don't become laws. We've got to let our voices be heard, or the only fishing our grandkids will do will be on a Wii. Davetroy had a good post on the subject a while back in http://www.ctfishfinder.com/phpBB2/fight-to-ban-lead-in-fishing-tackle-continues-t3410.html
