Are there still any open hearth stone grill pits near modus reservoir?
My dad used to take us there, to fish, in the 70's.
It was a spot, located at an intersection, where they had stone grills across from the lake.
He Was a WWII Navy vet who past away in Feb of 2020.
We'd like to visit that spot again on what would have been his 98th birthday !
Any suggestions on where this particular spot might be?

The launch for the lower or dam section has a very bad road, and the weeds are crappy. Tried to run a square bill crank and it still got hung up a lot. The upper section was much better.

The location details has SMB but its not on the list and i did not get any. I have caught LMB, Perch, and pickerel.

Dry Fly Check Prices
- Caught using a yellow haired caddis ~#16 size.
- Caught on a yellow sally size 14. Had a bite using a yellow and red streamer.
- Used a tan caddis #14 or so size. Such a small fish, probably not even worth recording, but oh well at least got something. Took quick photo and let em go.
- Yellow drakes and orange/yellow sulfers.
Nymph Check Prices
- A cross between a pheasant tail and a copper jack.
- Nymphs, muddler minnows, and black ghosts all returned results
- Green nymphs worked well.
Also had luck with white streamers, muddler minnows, and zonkers. - Green bh nymph

- We had the most luck fishing with muddler minnows and black ghosts. Also had success using green and white wholly buggers. Stay below the surface this time of year. Blue winged olives and other mayflies could be a good option as well.

MOODUS RESERVOIR (Upper, Lower) East Haddam (486 acres) BASS MANAGEMENT LAKE Species: (LMB CP CB S YP) Largemouth & smallmouth bass: 12” to 18” protected slot limit. Daily creel limit-6 bass, only 1 may be 18” or greater. Other: 35 mph speed limit days, 6 mph limit 1/2 hour after sunset to 8 am.. The Reservoir is one of the best largemouth bass lakes in the state and also has pickerel and crappie.
