Tried for open water pike wed. and thurs. had 1 hit and missed it. Talking with one of the regulars wed. he said you missed it tues. was the day (day late and a dollar short). A number of pike were caught from 22-35" and 1 (rare) eye 23". Pike were caught on bait and lures but the colder temps. shut things down. I'm sure a few days of warmer temps. will get the bite going.

Talked to another regular today and 2 walleyes were caught tuesday. The second was about 20". I thought the odds of catching 1 was high.

The eye's must be thriving pretty well in the river, I heard about one being caught at the Wethersfield cove the other week through the ice.
When I was a kid, walleye was not an option in the CT river, there were none, at least I don't remember hearing of them back then.

The rivers come a long way since my first trip in 1959. And with todays catch and release anglers it keeps getting better. Both eyes were put back for someone else to enjoy.
