Every season offers its special treats to the angler.

Winter has its ice fishing, perhaps loved more for the brandy-warmed innards than the frozen perch that tilts the tip-up. For the cold haters, it's a fine excuse to seek balmy breezes in isles were the bonefish and tarpon roam.

In spring, the stripers are back in the salt, and the trout are back in the deep pools and running riffles. Both are slim and voracious from the long winter dormancy.

Summer is for sitting on the dock of the bay with something cool in the glass, waiting for a fierce-eyed bluefish to gobble a chunk of mackerel from the mud. Or maybe it's a boat bobbing on a mirror of a lake in pursuit of trout or salmon the size of a dinner plate.
