The habitat of Nelson Pond is ideal for smallmouth bass. The pond is generally shallow, but also has areas with deeper water and rocky shoals that are important for young bass. Optimal water temperatures and dissolved oxygen levels that promote good growth remain throughout the summer months.
There is no public boat launch on Nelson Pond.
