My Firdt Atempt at a Blog!

2009-03-31 It's gr8 having a boat on the CT River. Where ever I go, there is water under me...well except for that sandbar or rock! One trip I took was to Greenport LI. We stayed at a marina there. Late in the day, I noticed these brown worms swimming in the surface of the water. I was told they are called "Wood Worms" They were about an inch long. Well I figured if there is fish here this is what they must be eating so I put on a piece of brown rubber worm on a #2 Hook and started fishing, casting and realing and making it swim. Well nothing was happening. Just as I was about to give up, the water erupted into a frenzy! I cast the little worm and hooked on to a schoolie Stripper! Just about every cast, I cought another one! This went on for some time untill it got dark then strangly it got quiet like a switch was shut off. This was in the spring and when I went to another salty marina, I had the same experiance. What I noticed is that the Stripper turn on late in the day, then stop when the sun goes down. I noticed this same behavior in the river roo.
