Fish On

The past two days have been awesome. Not so much because of the fishing but because of the great time I spent with my hubby. We started out yesterday at the Salmon River in Colchester, CT. It was cold and windy and the water seemed high. We did not catch any fish but did get some awesome pics of us in and around the covered bridge. There were some fly fisherman out, however it did not appear that their luck was any better than ours. We ate lunch at a small diner on 66 it had a yellow elephant statue outside (sorry can't remember the name, but the food was good and so were the people.

On our way home from the Salmon River, I took my hubby to Black Pond to try our luck. Well all I can say luck in fishing was not on our side that day.

Today we ventured out despite the cold and wind to Stanley Quarter Park, New Britain CT.

Another cold and windy day. There were few anglers out braving the weather. No luck :)

No worries got to spend a great couple of days with my guy, priceless :)

Fish On

It only seems appropriate to write today seeing that I cought my first bass of the season.

@ Burr Pond State Park, Torrington CT. :)

The place is beautiful. They have camping, hiking, fishing and I saw pets :)

Prior to today I have been fishing for Rainbow Trout. I spent time at Hubbard Park in Meriden CT., no luck. However, everyone I had the pleasure to talk to said that trout and carp are there. One thing to note: Everyone said do not eat the catch from here. Worms won the popular vote.

I spent a great deal of time at Black Pond in Meriden CT. I was successful when an old timer reccomended spinners or power bait marshmallows with meal worms. Boy I lit up like a christmas tree when I hooked my first one. :) Things, however, began to slow down for the rest of last week at Black Pond. I went early. I went late. And in between and no luck since April 15th.

On April 16th a bunch of old timers from Black Pond showed me Wadsworth Falls in Middlefield CT. And my favorite so far Salmon River in Colchester CT.. One old timer I was fishing with caught a tiger trout. That was good eatin :)

I have enjoyed everday fishing since opening day back on March 28th, 2015. I have had great conversations with many interesting people. I believe we may now call one another friends :)

Until next time

Fish On

Went to Charter Oak Landing  (CT River)in Hartford today :)

Overcast with drizzling. Temp 45.

I was surprised at the amount of parking areas right up to the water :)

And for those of you who require Handicapped Parking, there is more than enough.

I was the only person fishing :( & :)

The water was high & there were floating structure (downed branches) flowing towards the bank.

Didn't catch anything but it sure did feel good to cast :)

Fish On

I hope I will be able to document my experiences of fishing CT.

As I am new to the sport I am finding some CT regulations in the CT fishing guide to be somewhat confusing and I hope during this new journey I will be able to network and find the answers to questions that future women anglers and others to be helpful.

I plan to fish as much as I possibly able. And look forward to making new friends along the way.

So stay tuned
