Lake Naraneka Fishing Report

Seth Low Pierrpont

First time fishing here. Parking has about 10 spots with an area clear to launch a canoe or kayak.

First cast landed me a small LMB under a pound. Pond is loaded with bass in the one pound range. Caught a couple in the 1-2 lb range. Used a shad colored stick bait twitching the lure aggressively, back and forth with great success. They preferred this method over the jerk and drop like a rubber worm. These fish were very aggressive.

Started just prior to sunset until an hour after sunset. After the sun went down, I switched over to a top running buzz bait also in white. They were super aggressive and hit the lure really hard making for some agreniline and fun filled night fishing.

The pond averages in my estimation 7' - 12' in depth over about 75 acres. The shoreline is mostly undeveloped with a few dwellings and a public beach. I'd say 80% wooded around the perimeter with a small island in the middle. It is not over grown with surface weeds but are visible about 4' under the surface providing great cover for the fish. This time of year, the weeds were managable and allowed for numerous spots for the fish to hide. Bait fish were seen leaping from the water all night evading predatory fish below.

8.5 out of 10 on fish catching activity and 4 out of 10 on fish size.
