"Show Your Colors, Connecticut"
Connecticut residents are encouraged to submit Fall Foliage photos to the DEP
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced the second annual "Show Your Colors, Connecticut" photo opportunity for amateur photographers in Connecticut.
Beginning today, photographers of all ages can submit "Fall Foliage" photos for publication on the DEP website.

"Show Your Colors, Connecticut" is designed as a way of sharing Connecticut’s beautiful fall landscape with others," said Amey Marrella, Commissioner of the DEP. "Last year over one hundred photos were submitted, providing examples of what a spectacular landscape Connecticut provides for everyone to enjoy. This is not a contest or competition but a way to showcase to others the brilliant colors of fall and how beautiful Connecticut is every autumn. Everyone is encouraged to explore and photograph the varied scenes readily available near their homes, from city life to Connecticut’s towns and villages to our farms, lakes, parks, coastal areas and more."
Photos should feature trees and leaves – the key ingredients of Connecticut’s fall foliage display. There should be no identifiable people in the photos.
Photos can be of vistas, forests, farms or more – but they must be taken in Connecticut.
Suggested themes include:
* Coastal scenes and shorelines of lakes, ponds & rivers
* Forest scenes, including photos of wildlife
* Farm scenes
* Recreational scenes
* Individual trees, including trees in parks and along roads
* Scenes of city life and pictures from Connecticut’s towns and villages
Photos should be color, digital photos that have not been substantially retouched or significantly reduced. Cropped photos are acceptable. Not all photos that are submitted will be displayed. Photos to be chosen will be selected based primarily on how well they capture the experience of viewing fall foliage in Connecticut. All photos must have been taken during this year’s fall foliage season.

"As part of Connecticut’s No Child Left InsideSM initiative, enjoying the outdoors together makes sense any time of the year, and especially in the fall when colors are vivid and sunshine illuminates the highlights of the fall season."
