Uni-Knot
One of the most versatile and durable knot is more than a simple fishing knot. It's an entire knot tying system. Some anglers use it to secure two fishing lines. It can be used to secure lines of light or heavy test, as well as light lines to heavy ones. One of this knot's great assets is that it can be used to secure slick braided lines to monofilament or fluorocarbon lines, and it's much easier to tie than it might first appear. I use the knot to tie large saltwater streamers to the tippet. The knot provides an excellent loop allowing the fly to swing more naturally. This is also a good knot for looping together the leader to the tippet.

Here ya go Bob, let me add this. Knots are a very important part of fishing. As you get old and your eyes go bad it becomes much more challenging and frustrating in the wind and dark.

Uses: The Uni Knot is a versatile knot which can be adapted to many purposes including snelling; connecting hooks, swivels and lures with a loop; and joining two lines.

Advantages: It is fairly easy to tie in the dark with practice. Claims that it retains a high proportion of line strength have been disputed. When tied round a large diameter eye, it may retain strength well, but if used to join two lines, like other knots where a line passes round itself, a breaking strain of 50% of ideal performance is more likely.
