I have never fished either of these spots and wondered if anybody could enlighten me on them.I heard that Pickerel gets real weed choked later in season but wanted to know how the fishing is early spring. And I see Batterson has walleye. Is the launch there secure and anybody caught eyes there that are keeper size yet? Thanks in advance.

I have fished Batterson at least once every season for the past 7 years. Fly fish for whatever hits. Last year, I caught a few walleyes around 15-18 inches. Lots of Rock Bass, Largemouths, Pickeral and a few Carp. As for safety, I would stick to daytime hours by the launch. On the opposite side the area is pretty open close to the road. That where I prefer to fish becuse the open area give me room for a backcast. Great place to take kids for panfish.

I've fished Pickerel and had a decent day. It does choke up bad, so fish it early in the season.
