I have over 52 years experience fishing. I have fished from the Gulf of Mexico to the offshore waters of Maine. I am a licensed 6 Pack captain but perfer being on the deck working with the customers. I am learning the commercial lobster business and having a ball at it. (Never too old to learn new stuff in the fishing world.) My favorite trips are canyon trips. Best ever catch is a 900# + Giant Blue Fin.

Philip Strickland's Latest Reports

I made several trips to Marshfield Mass to fish with Capt. Bob Veach on the RIGHT HOOK (Out of New London). Let me tell you! The weather was too perfect to believe, the fishing was LOCK & LOAD as long as we fished. There was a lot of fishing, minimul tangles, and we even stayed away from the crouds of boats. I made three trips and limited out every trip. We had a mix of fish from cod to wolf fish. The most comfortable cod trips I did this winter and spring.

We had a great trip. Every one on the boat limited out on cod. We had the tipical mix of fish but mostly cod. Nothing really big, My guess would be fish in the range of 4 to 8 lbs with a few in the 10 to 14 pound range. The weather was fare to good with winds in the 5 to 10 knots out of the SE and 2 to 4 foot seas. A small ground swell made the jiging work good. the American Classic is a 95 footer so it handled the weather great and was quite comfortable. Only a few fish were caught on bait - jigs were the hot item. I had a great talk with Capt Jim Walsh. Super guy. Check out his web site (AmericanClassic.com). The crew on the boat were great. We are going to do another trip with him later.
