I'm a displaced wader from the Texas coast who believes in full-contact fishing to battle brutes on their own terms. Hoping to hear my reel sing, I now target bass out of a tube float, mainly fishing Lake Sherando and Beaver Creek Lake.

Redfish but I settle for Bass

Wade fishing but I settle for tube floating

Special-order cranks and Texas-rigged craws
Fishing Rods
I use three each time out: a 7-foot medium-action Bill Dance rod and baitcaster combo for jigs, a 6.5-foot medium generic for cranks and a 6-foot medium generic for flipping.

Quantum and Daiwa baitcasters
Fishing Techniques
Spring and fall -- shallow-diving sticks on flats right before sunup, Texas-rigged craws in laydowns and cranks in open water. Summer -- jigs down and up ledges near shallows
Favorite Fishing Spot
Lake Shenandoha, Sherando Lake and Beaver Creek in VA.

Sugar Hollow recon

This lake isn't that far from Waynesboro IF there's a shortcut as this map shows. Other map services show only the road from White Hall. What's more the lake description says "bank fishing only ..;. no boats." So I've got to go check if a tube float is OK.
