| Never fished the place...been by two or three times to look...seemed to always be drawn down...is it worth going and if so what would I fish for? There seemed to be lots of structure and plenty of gravel bottom. They do draw the place really far down though in the winter....Anyone...Anyone? |

Yeah they draw it down for weed control, and there is a plant that uses the water for power. They give him more in the winter.
As for fishing there, it's a very popular pond for bass. Lot's of tournaments are held there. I fish there on the ice and only in the water in the spring. Once the state park starts charging to get in, I stop going. In the heat of the summer, lot's of traffic, but it is manageable.
As for species, well there is large mouth bass, pike, pickerel, crappie, yellow perch and sunfish. for your bottom feeders, it has brown bullhead and on occasion a white sucker and american eel.
for more info, you can find it here on Fish Finders, or go to Dep's web site.
My opinion, yeah give it a try, but before Memorial Day. That's when they start charging. Oh the boat ramp is in the state park.
Hope that helps and good luck! |
