Rell says Conn. parks free next weekend

SIMSBURY, Conn. — Connecticut is waiving parking fees at state parks next weekend to mark the state's 375th anniversary, and kick off the summer season.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced Friday during a ceremony at Talcott Mountain State Park in Simsbury that the fees will be waived on May 22-23.

The parks include Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison; Sherwood Island State Park in Westport; Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme; Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford; and the Dinosaur State Park exhibit center in Rocky Hill.

The parking fee at shoreline parks is currently $9 for residents and $13 for nonresidents until Memorial Day. Afterward, it will be $13 for residents and $22 for nonresidents on weekends and $9 for residents and $15 for nonresidents on week days.
