Fished the Farmington with fellow member Streamstomper yesterday afternoon. We hoped the Hendrickson's would come out to play and entice the trout into a surface feeding frenzy. Unfortunately, the mayflies were sparse and we dredged the bottom with nymphs. Streamstomper caught a few on his own ties which made his day.
Hooking trout on flies you tied yourself is another reason why fly fishing is the "extra dimension", catching fish in a more enjoyable way.
The season is young - many more days on the water.

Thank you Flyangler. I now am memorialized with the first trout I caught on a fly I tied. It was a great day. I'm mostly upset that I was not able to capture a picture of the monster you hauled in.
