I picked this one up over the winter. I just took it out today for the first time. It seems to have pretty good power for a 5.5 hp.

good eyes! I'm toying with the idea of use this one for a kicker on my 17ft.

My guess was an ice auger with an electric trolling motor mounting bracket attached

you both are close, but it is an outboard. It's a Elliot Power Paddle. Mite be 1hp or so. Came with a bag to carry it in. My dad was a sucker for unusual things. Oh it sounds just like a weed wacker and a ice auger.
