Stopped and tried for schoolies from shore in E.Windsor area today. Saw some boats anchored in the river in the "shad spot" under I-91. They didn't stay long so I assume it wasn't productive. I threw curlytail grubs in several colors for about an hour without success except for a very nice 2-1/2 to 3lb smallmouth. Nice fight in the current on 6lb test. Water was a bit cloudy but not bad. I have a feeling that things are a bit late this year. I really want to try for shad in the Farmington. Anyone heard if they are there yet?
