Anyone had a chance to do some Pike fishing in the river recently? Over the past week I've tried a few different spots in Haddam and Cromwell. I tried throwing jerkbaits, spinners, swimbaits, things of that nature, but didn't have any luck (not even a bite). Just curious if anyone else was having similar struggles, or had any words of wisdom.
Got out with the Gemma Rose II yesterday for a shakedown and hoping for some pike. Was basically blown off the river. Wind was 25-30+. "Fished" Rocky Hill south to Middletown. Even back into places like the Mattabassett were next to impossible. My buddy caught a few Friday, and the ice-out bite is definitely on.
