In the face of massive destruction and loss of life after Hurricane Sandy, it seems insensitive to wonder about something as trivial as Long Island Sound fishing.

The short answer is "who cares?" But as power is slowly restored to Connecticut's coastal communities and semblance of normal life (whatever that is) returns, the questions will inevitably be heard.

• Did the massive storm drive the stripers and bluefish out of the Sound, ending the season?

• Or, might the storm's violent stirring of bottom sediments and bait schools cause the bass and blues to charge inshore to partake of a fall forage food windfall?
