Lung is dead on with this one.
I packed a small cooler with a few libations and joined up with a group of guys from this site a few years back. Wanted to see what hard water fishing was all about. Gave me a chance to see the gear everyone used and the different techniques. Started that same year just buying the bare necessities and have loved it ever since. I still don't have an auger, because I have several friends who have them. They are more than happy to let me use theirs as long as I pack it and drag it out on my sled. Small price to pay.
