North Haven's 18th Annual Fishing Derby set for Saturday
NORTH HAVEN — The Town of North Haven, Department of Community Services and Recreation invites children ages 3 to 15 to enjoy a morning of fishing at the 18th Annual Fishing Derby, Saturday, April 30, beginning at 7 a.m, at Sinoway Pond on Upper State Street. The Fishing Derby is locally sponsored by McDonald’s of Washington Avenue, Dunkin’ Donuts of Washington Ave., Dairy Queen on Whitney Ave., AT&T and Tom Villano. National sponsors as well as other sponsors will be noted and mentioned at the Fishing Derby. Check-in begins at 7 a.m.; fishing from 7:30 to 10 a.m.; and presentation of awards and trophies at 10:30 a.m.

Parents are asked to stay and assist children 12 and under. The event is free for residents. and $10 for non-residents.

Trophies will be awarded for first fish caught, largest fish caught and 1st person to catch state limit of 5. In addition, a plaque will be awarded to those catching tagged fish. Prizes will be raffled off throughout the day and a casting contest will be held for different age groups.
