Hi, I am staying in CT with my husband for the long weekend coming up and I wanted to surprise him with some fishing. We booked a hotel in Westbrook CT 06498. Where is the best place to go fishing that is close by? What type of fish are in season now? Sorry for the amature questions. I love fishing for fluke but I do not think they are in season anymore? I have no one else to ask....please help!

Thanks,

Alisa

Alisa,

Go to the Tackle Box tab on this site and select the Angler's Guide. The marine fishing regs will specify what is currently in season. Not sure about shore fishing, but you should be able to find charters available along the CT shore.

You could go to the DEEP Pier at the Marine headquarters on Ferry Rd.

You can also fish on the west side of the CT River mouth at the Baldwin Bridge State Launch

Hammonassette State Park just to your west also has fishing at Meigs Point.

I like River's End.

The blue crabbing is also red hot right now at the DEEP Pier and Baldwin bridge.

What a wife! Good Luck.
