Howdy folks,
So I just purchased a small fishing kayak (a sit on top), I've bought a PFD and a couple leashes for the paddles.
I've been kayaking a few times at the Yale outdoor education center, but never fishing on one.
So my next question is this:
What other gear do you guys recommend? Do I need a bilge pump? Do you have suggestions for basic rigging?
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

| Depends on what your yak came with. If you don't have rod holders, you'll need to rig some up. Dick's sporting or Cabellas has both in hull and external hull mounts.Bungee cords to hold gear. Don't know about needing a bilge pump. I have a sit in yak which is more likely to fill with water and sink, and I don't carry one. A few others guys on this site have sit on tops and I don't believe water filling hull is an issue. They will be able to answer better. |

| Won't need a bilge pump unless your kayak is defective or you leave your hatches open in bad weather. |
